Some helpful information:

The Federal school code for Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law is 003032.

Please keep a copy of your most recent Federal Tax return. We MAY request this form, however it should not be submitted unless requested.

New students - do not wait until you are accepted to complete your FAFSA and LAA. You should complete these forms as soon as possible after January 1.

The next steps in the financial aid process:

Once your forms are completed and we receive your FAFSA results electronically and your LAA we will mail you a Financial Aid Award Letter.

Complete, sign and return the award letter to the address listed on the letter.  We will then certify your Federal Loan request(s).

Your lender (if you chose Access Group) will send you a Master Promissory Note (MPN) to sign (if you have not already done so). You must complete this MPN and return it to your lender. If you do not borrow from Access Group then you can complete the MPN at the web site listed on your award letter. You only need to complete the MPN once at Cleveland-Marshall.   One MPN per school is valid for 10 years.  Once the lender receives the MPN they will release your loan money to the University. The earliest they can release the dollars is 10 days before the start of classes.

Seat deposits and scholarships are credited to student accounts 10 days before the start of classes.

New borrowers at Cleveland-Marshall must do entrance loan counseling.  Go to www.csuohio.edu/fao/links.htm to complete this process.

If you are eligible for, and wish to secure, private/alternative loan(s), you must actually go to the lender's web site to apply.  These loans are based on your credit score, so there is no guarantee you will qualify as a borrower.  If you are not approved for these loans, you may choose to reapply with a co-signor.

For a list of CSU recommended lenders and to compare borrower benefits, click here.

CSU will be notified electronically of your loan request once you are approved for a private/alternative loan.  CSU will then certify the loan.  A paper loan check will be mailed to the University Office of Treasury Services (OTS).  You will receive a letter telling you to go to the OTS located in University Center (UC) Room 460 to endorse your check.

If you borrow in excess of tuition, you will receive a refund.  Refund checks are mailed to your CampusNet address by the OTS.  OTS mails checks on Tuesdays and Fridays.
