The Office of Career Planning is often the source for finding information on awards, fellowships, and scholarships. A large white notebook of opportunities is located in the Office of Career Planning. Announcements of most of these opportunities are also emailed from the OCP office and placed on Symplicity.
FELLOWSHIPSELp
CLEVELAND EXECUTIVE FELLOWSHIP. The Cleveland Executive Fellowship is an experiential, immersion program designed to accelerate professional development of civic leaders. Its goal is to prepare individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public-affairs arena. At the end of their fellowship, fellows are encouraged to pursue pivotal roles within the city and the organizations that help shape it. Fellows agree to remain in Northeast Ohio for two years following completion of the program. During the fellowship, participants complete hands-on, high-level assignments in corporate, education, nonprofit, and public-sector workplaces, and attend weekly professional development seminars. Over the course of the fellowship, fellows learn how various sectors interact, how decisions are made, and which people and institutions guide Cleveland’s civic agenda. They also gain insight into how public processes unfold, garner a deeper understanding of the community, and build an extensive professional network — all of which enhance their ability to become agents of change for Greater Cleveland. Applications for the class of 2010-2011 will be available in February of 2010.

INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATIONAL EQUITY & OPPORTUNITY FELLOWSHIP AND SUMMER ASSOCIATE AWARD The Institute for Educational Equity & Opportunity (IFEEO) will provide a 1-year fellowship for a 2010 law school graduate to work with a public interest educational equity project or attorney of their choice in the areas of educational equity and opportunity. Details of the 2010-11 program will be listed this fall.

THE PEGGY BROWNING FUND 2009 SUMMER FELLOWSHIP
The mission of The Peggy Browning Fund is to educate law students about the rights and needs of workers. During 2010, between 40 and 50 funded ten-week Summer Fellowships will be offered. The applicant must be a student in good standing at one of the law schools on the list of participating law schools. See the fellowship descriptions for each respective Mentor Organizations for any additional eligibility requirements which may vary from one organization to another.
The application package should include a cover letter, a completed application form and your resume. Send your application package plus any required attachments, to each site to which you want to apply. Also send a copy of the complete package to The Peggy Browning Fund, 1818 Market Street, Suite 2300, Philadelphia, PA 19103. THE CLEVELAND FELLOWSHIP IN ADVANCED BIOETHICS. The Cleveland Fellowship in Advanced Bioethics (CFAB) is a two-year, full-time program designed to train the next generation of leaders in the field of bioethics. Applications will be considered from professionals with post-graduate degrees in medicine, philosophy, nursing, social work, religious studies, law, and other fields related to the practice of clinical and academic bioethics.
The CFAB curriculum is designed to prepare scholars in the field of Bioethics whose expertise is well grounded in the clinical environment. Requirements for graduation from the program include completion of an empirical or conceptual research contribution, completion of a community engagement effort, and extensive experience in ethics consultation. The Master of Arts in Bioethics Program at CWRU is available to CFAB fellows, either as a degree program or to supplement prior coursework as needed to met the educational and career goals of the fellow.

THE ARTHUR C. HELTON FELLOWSHIP. The Arthur C. Helton Fellowship Program, established in 2004 on the recommendation of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) Honors Committee, recognizes the legacy of Arthur Helton, a remarkable ASIL member who died in the August 19, 2003 bombing of the UN mission in Baghdad along with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Sergio Vieira de Mello and 20 others.Funded in part by contributions from ASIL members and private foundations, Helton Fellowships provide financial assistance in the form of “micro-grants” for law students and young professionals to pursue field work and research on significant issues involving international law, human rights, humanitarian affairs, and related areas.

IRTS SUMMER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM. The Fellowship Program teaches up-and-coming communicators the realities of the media industry and business world through a nine-week, expense-paid fellowship, which includes practical experience and career-planning advice. Fellows gain full-time, "real world" experience at New York based media companies. In addition, the Fellowship provides the opportunity to network with industry professionals and attend panels, lectures and group discussions.
The Fellowship Program is competitive. Students must be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students at the time of application. Detailed eligibility and application information can be found here. Deadline is December 1, 2009.
K & L GATES LLP PUBLIC INTEREST FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM. The Program was established by The Pittsbuirgh Foundation 's K&L Gates LLP Fund to offer law students the opportunity to assist public service organizations located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Each summer the program awards up to three successful candidates a fellowship that enables them to spend four weeks of their summer working at one of four designated public interest organizations: Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Education Law Center, KidsVoice and the Neighborhood Legal Services Associaiton.
Each recipient will be paid a stipend of $1,000 /week (less applicable taxes) for his or her public interest service. K&L Gates will pay a supplemental salary to any recipient who receives and accepts an offer to spend the remainder of the summer as a K&L Gates summer associate. The supplemental salary and stipend will equal the weekly salary of K&L Gate' summer associates during the fellowship period. Fellows are not required to spend the rest of the summer with K&L Gates. Fellowship winners will be based on academic merit, demonstrated commitment to public service, and other information provided through the application process and interviews with finalist candidates.

THE SUPREME COURT FELLOWS PROGRAM. Since 1973, the Supreme Court Fellows Program has enabled exceptionally talented people to contribute to the work of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Federal Judicial Center, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, and more recently the United States Sentencing Commission. The Program seeks outstanding individuals from diverse professions and academic backgrounds, including law, the social and behavioral sciences, public and business administration, systems research and analysis, communications, and the humanities. Work assignments and projects reflect the needs of the judiciary and the interests and capabilities of the fellows. Fellows gain insight into the contemporary policy issues facing the judiciary as well as an appreciation of the nature of judicial administration. Individuals best able to maximize the resources of the Supreme Court Fellows Program are those with initiative, poise, and adaptability.
