Externship and Clinic Programs
Externships
Being in the heart of downtown Cleveland has many advantages for Cleveland-Marshall students. Our law school has many externship opportunities with non-profit or public interest organizations as well as government offices. Under the Externship Program, you will earn classroom credit while contributing to the on-going work of the office under the supervision of an attorney or judge.
Cleveland-Marshall’s Externship Program is designed to provide real-life snapshots of employment areas in work settings. Students who have completed the first year of law school (29 credit hours) and maintained a 2.5 GPA are eligible. Students will be under the tutelage of an attorney at the organization as well as a professor at the law school. Journals are kept of the types of contacts made, work researched, and observations held. Law school credit is earned based on the number of hours of the externship. Tuition is paid for the credit hours earned. Externships are available for fall, spring and summer semesters.
