Job Searching Guide

Pathways to Employment

There are some positive steps you may take to get you to your employment goal. Check these pathways from the Office of Career Planning Handbook to see what steps you should be taking to obtain a job.

Web Access to Job Postings

Many law firms and businesses post their openings (both full time and part time) with the Office of Career Planning.  In addition, our staff looks on various websites to locate other positions.  The positions we know about are all posted on Symplicity which current students and alumni may access.  You will need to go to the website using Internet Explorer and enter your ID (firstname.lastname@law.csuohio.edu).  You will receive a Password from Symplicity through an email.  If you do not remember it, you will need to click on the “forgot password” button.  The OCP does not have a list of passwords, nor can anyone here create one for you. https://law-csuohio-csm.symplicity.com/students/. For a presentation on using Symplicity go to: Powerpoint

Cleveland-Marshall belongs to Equal Justice Works, a public interest organization that provides job postings.

The ABA also provides a valuable job board listing both law clerk and attorney positions throughout the country: http://www.abanet.org/careercounsel/jobs.html

Look at the other areas of this website for more links to career opportunitites, including the "Areas of Practice" links.

Other Law Schools

Law schools often have specialties or information that may be of use to you in your job hunt.

Intercollegiate Newsletters listing job postings are published by some law schools. We collect those that are published in hard copy and they are in binders in our office.

Reciprocity may be obtained with the career offices of other law schools. There are black out periods during on campus interviewing, and other rulesmay apply depending on the school. Check their websites and then have the OCP send them a letter asking for you to recieve reciprocity. Here is the link for the policy for Cleveland-Marshall.
