The 2008 Graduation Challenge
What will your degree be worth in 10 years?
Invest in C-M. Invest in YOU.
What is it?
The Graduation Challenge is a student-initiated class giving (pledge) program established to help us maintain a positive connection with our school and to keep the quality of education strong at Cleveland-Marshall. Through this effort, we, the Class of 2008, pledge our support to the future strength of Cleveland-Marshall.
When is it?
The Graduation Challenge will be taking place throughout the Spring 2008 semester. There will be multiple events and awards in conjunction with the Challenge, including an end-of-the-semester cruise on the Goodtime III.
Why do we do this?
Because Cleveland-Marshall is a state-assisted, not state-supported institution, the monies it receives cover only minimal operating expenses. It is essential to develop and maintain funding from internal and external constituencies. Cleveland-Marshall needs our support to thrive. Our goal is to help fill in the gaps so we can maintain the excellent education opportunities at Cleveland-Marshall that we have received.
Not only is fundraising an important part of maintaining a law school, it is a factor by which the law school is judged. As a future graduate of Cleveland-Marshall, your law degree will be the one of, if not the most, important assets you will have. Increasing the fundraising at Cleveland-Marshall increases the law school’s esteem nationally, and subsequently increases the prestige of your law degree. Giving to the Graduation Challenge is, quite literally, an investment in your own degree.
How can you contribute?
Students can contribute to the Graduation Challenge by filling out pledge cards, which will be handed out at all Graduation Challenge events. Also, for your convenience, students can give through this website by clicking the Give Now! button above.
Our proposal is $25 the first year, $50 the second and $75 the third—for a total pledge of $150 over three years.
2008 - $25
2009 - $50
2010 - $75
How will the money be used?
You have the option of designating your pledge to your particular area of interest at the law school. The Wolstein Scholarship Fund, law library, Law Review, Moot Court, Journal of Law and Health, a clinic, or a specific scholarship program—the choice is yours. As you may know, the law school has been presented with an amazing opportunity: Iris S. Wolstein has pledged to match dollar for dollar all gifts to the Wolstein Scholarship Fund up to $1.25 million. When that goal is reached, the law school will have an endowed scholarship fund of $2.5 million. If you decide not to designate your gift, it will be placed in the law school’s general fund to be used to meet the most pressing needs.
Who does this?
As stated above, the Graduation Challenge is a student-initiated fundraising drive. It is planned and organized completely by us—the students. Questions regarding the Graduation Challenge can be directed to any member of the Graduation Challenge Committee:
