Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library Patron Code of Conduct Access and Other
Policies and Information
Most Law Library services and collections are available to all library users. Patrons must present a valid CSU I.D. card, Cleveland-Marshall Law Alumni card, or Ohio State Bar card to gain access to some of the Library's services and collections. AnimalsService animals are allowed in the Library. No other animals are allowed. CarrelsCarrels located throughout the Library are available as study space on a first-come, first-served basis. The use of cell phones is discouraged throughout the Law Library. Please be respectful of those who are trying to study. We recommend you leave the Library if you need to talk to anyone on a cell phone. ChangeA change machine is located near the Information Services Desk. It dispenses dimes only. Library staff at the Information Services Desk cannot give out change. Computer LabPersonal computers, located in the Law Library's PC Labs (First Level), are available for Cleveland-Marshall students. DisplaysThroughout
the year, Library staff prepare exhibits in the display area near the
main entrance. Topics of current interest to the Law School community
are chosen. Student groups are encouraged to contribute suggestions and
ideas. EmergenciesIn an emergency, notify a staff member at the Information Services desk at ext.2250. For general medical emergencies or to reach the police or fire department, dial 911 on a campus phone. From a cell phone, ask the operator to connect you to the CSU police. Fire extinguishers and alarms are located throughout the library. The only regular entrance and exit to the Law Library is located near the Information Services Desk. All other doors are alarm exits to be used only in emergency. Please refer to our Circulation Policies & Services. Food and BeveragesNo food is permitted in the Library. You will be asked to leave the Library if you bring food into the Library. Beverages can be brought into the Library as long as they are in a "spill proof" container as demonstrated in the display near the Information Services Desk. Handicapped AccessAccess to all library levels is available through the use of the Library's elevators. Please ask for assistance at the Information Services Desk. LightsLights that are not working should be reported to the Information Services Desk at ext.2250. Loan PeriodsPlease refer to our Circulation Policies and Services. Lost and FoundAny personal property found in the Law Library should be delivered to the Information Services Desk. All unclaimed property is held at the Information Services Desk for a limited time. MessagesThe Library does not provide a paging service. Emergency requests, however, are handled by the Campus Police -- dial ext.2020 on a campus phone. NoiseNoise must be kept at a minimum at all times in study areas. The reference area has been designated for light conversation and meeting with other students. PhotocopiersPhotocopiers
are available on all floors of the Library. Copies can be purchased with
cash at each photocopier for 10 cents per copy. The photocopiers accept
nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills. You may also purchase a copy
card for $1 from one of the self-service copy card dispenser/encoders
located near the Information Services Desk. Copies made with a copy card
also cost 10 cents per copy. $1, $5, $10, or $20 bills may be used to
add value to your copy card. The library cannot give refunds. VikingCards
or credit card will not work in the copiers. Renewing MaterialsPlease refer to our Circulation Policies and Services. Please refer to our Circulation Policies and Services. Reshelving MaterialsLibrary staff reshelve materials left on tables throughout the day. You may place Library materials that are no longer needed on the red carts for reshelving located on each floor of the Library. Rest RoomsRest rooms are available on each floor of the Library. SmokingSmoking is prohibited in all areas of the Library and the Law School building. The Law School building is a smoke-free building. Student Honor CodeSection VI of the Honor Code of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law addresses "Misuse of Law Library and other Law School books, materials and equipment" as follows: A
student shall not steal, deface, destroy, or otherwise misuse Law Library
and other Law School books, materials, or equipment. A.) It is a violation of this rule for a student to hide or otherwise make Law School materials unavailable to other students in order to put others at a disadvantage in performing a Law School assignment. B.) It is a violation of this rule for a student to use a Law School computer or a research terminal for work undertaken in the course of outside employment or for other non-Law School purposes. Study Rooms The Law Library has several
study rooms available throughout the Library for group study. These rooms
may be reserved for groups of 2 or more law students once a day and up
to 3 consecutive hours. Law students may reserve rooms in person at the
Information Services Desk up to 72 hours in advance or 24 hours in advance
by phone at 687-2250. Study room reservations will be canceled if the
study group does not arrive within 30 minutes of their reservation. If
a study room is not reserved, the room may be used on a first-come, first-served
basis. Suggestion BoxSuggestions for improvement of Library services and procedures are encouraged. Please leave your ideas and suggestions in the suggestion box at the Information Services Desk. Recommendations of titles to be purchased are also encouraged.
TelephonesA campus telephone is available in the Law School building first floor atrium. A pay telephone is located in the Law School outside Student Services. See also Cell Phones.
Vantage ReaderThis low vision, closed circuit television magnification system may be helpful for reading books, articles, papers, etc. The Library staff will be glad to assist you in its use.
