| Circulation Policies & Services Circulation Loan Periods
Renewing Materials You may renew Law Library materials up to three times before they must be returned to the Law Library. OhioLINK materials may be renewed up to four times. You may renew your materials on Scholar, the Law Library’s online catalog. You may also renew your materials in person or by phone by calling the Information Services Desk at (216) 687-2250 during Library hours. All materials are subject to immediate recall. If an item is recalled, a notice will be sent to you assigning your material a new due date. A dollar a day fine accrues for items not returned by the recall due date.
Reserve Materials The reserve (RR) collection is located at the Information Services Desk. It contains hornbooks, handbooks, nutshells and study guides, a current Ohio practice collection, bound volumes of course examinations, current faculty evaluations, and the current issues of periodicals. The Law faculty course reserve items are also located in this area. Reserve room materials are available upon request for a two-hour period. These materials do not leave the library unless a special borrowing privilege is applicable. The library may recall overdue reserve room materials to make them available to other patrons. Materials located in the reserve collection are indicated by "RR" or "Reserve" notation in Scholar, the online catalog. A valid form of identification must be presented when charging out reserve material.
Fine Policies Fine Policy for General Law Library Items An item will be billed after it is overdue thirty days. You will be billed for the book plus you will be billed a processing fee of $15.00. The $15.00 processing fee is billed to you even if the item is returned. The $15.00 processing fee is a mandatory charge for all items thirty days overdue. If you do not return the overdue item, you will be charged $65.00. For an explanation of University Library fines, see the University Library’s policy page. Fine Policy for OhioLINK Items OhioLINK charges ALL patrons a late fee of $.50 per day per book for overdue materials. A lost book replacement charge of $75.00 will be billed to the patron who does not return an OhioLINK loan 30 days after the due date. A $50.00 processing fee will also be included on these lost book invoices. Only the $75.00 replacement fee is canceled when the item is returned; the patron will still be charged the $50.00 processing fee. OhioLINK policies, fines, and charges are determined by the OhioLINK consortium. Fine Policy for Special Law Library Loan Items Materials borrowed on special loan from the Law Library are fined at $1.00 per day past the due date. Special loan materials include items borrowed by members of Law School organizations, such as, but not limited to Moot Court, Law Review, Journal of Law and Health, etc. Special loan materials also may include, but are not limited to, other materials checked out of the Law Library under specifically defined circumstances.
