Tips
Hours
Our Law
Library Hours are posted on our website. Law Library hours change
during exam periods and intersessions, so check the hours page for the
most current information.
VikingCard
In order to check out materials from the Law Library, you need to have
a VikingCard. Get your VikingCard at the VikingCard
Office located in University Center room 272B.
View
Your Record in Scholar
Keep track of what materials
you have checked out of the Library and when they are due by logging
into View Your
Record in SCHOLAR,
the Library catalog. To log in, you will need your name, CSU ID number
and a PIN number that you assign. From here, you can also see any holds
you have placed, and any fines. For more information on circulation
loan periods and fines, see our Library policies.
Study
Rooms
There are nine group study rooms located throughout
the Law Library for use by Law students. To reserve a study room, please
stop by the Information Services Desk and bring your VikingCard. A member
of the Access or Research Services staff must sign off on your reservation.
Group study rooms are for two or more persons and may be reserved for
three continuous hours per day. You may continue to use the room unless
another group has a reservation for the room. A study group may only
reserve one room per day. Reservations may be made in person up to 72
hours in advance and 24 hours in advance by phone (216-687-2250). Your
reservation for a group study room will be canceled if you are late
30 minutes or more for your scheduled time.
Printing
& Photocopying
Law students have an annual allowance of 800 free pages from the computer
lab printers. When your first 800 pages run out, you can purchase additional
pages (using a personal check or money order) in $5.00 minimum increments,
not to exceed $20.00. The cost is $.05 per page, so 100 pages cost $5.00.
Buy additional pages at the Information Services desk. Your print outs
are delivered to the two networked laser printers located in the computer
lab. There is also one stand-alone printer where you can use high quality paper for resumes
and cover letters. All printing from your Lexis and Westlaw accounts
is free when you use the separate Lexis and Westlaw printers.
Photocopiers are located next
to the elevators on all floors and photocopies cost $.10 each, payable
in cash or by using a copycard. A copycard can be purchased on the 1st
Level of the Law Library at the dispenser unit across from the Information
Services Desk, using a one dollar bill. The card comes with $.20 for
copies encoded on it. The other $.80 is for the cost of the card. You
may add money to your copycard either at the dispenser or at most copiers.
The Law Library photocopiers do not accept Viking Cards.
Past
Exams, Course
Reserves & Faculty Evaluations
Many past exams and course reserve materials are available online from
our Law Library home page. Come to the Information
Services Desk to request those past exams and course reserve items that
are not online, as well as faculty evaluations by students. Anything
checked out from the Information Services Desk stays in the Law Library
with a loan period of two hours.
Study
Materials in AO66
The Law Library offers a large collection of professional and study
skills materials for our students to check out. These titles are located
on the Atrium Level in Room A066. Study materials include Hornbooks,
Nutshells, Lexis' Understanding Series, the Examples & Explanation
Series, DVDs, and legal writing, research and advocacy materials. The
collection also includes resources on adapting to the law school environment,
bar exam materials, and career-oriented items on topics such as starting
your own practice. The materials in A066 may be checked out of the Library. There
are additional copies of most of these materials on reserve at the Information
Services Desk. Materials from the Information Services Desk may be checked
out for 2 hours, and stay in the Library.
Saving
Documents to the H Drive in the Law Library Computer Lab
Each Law student has space available on the H drive of the Law Library
server. Each student’s H drive is visible only to that student. We strongly
recommend using this drive for saving documents. When you save to the
H drive, your documents are automatically backed up on a weekly basis.
You can only access your H drive from the Law Library Computer Lab.
If you want to work on documents stored on the H drive outside the Computer
Lab, we recommend that you use a USB flash drive or email the documents
to yourself.
Food
& Beverage Policy
Food is not permitted in the Law Library. You can bring beverages into
the Library as long as they are in a spill-proof container. Cans,
screw top bottles, paper cups, and Styrofoam cups are not permitted
in the Law Library. All beverages in any type of containers are
prohibited in the Computer Lab and AV rooms.
