Casemaker has a case check feature. When you pull up a case, it will list cases citing the case you pulled up. Click on the links to see how the subsequent case treated the case in question. Does not contain signals, such as overruled, distinguished, followed, etc. Casemaker is accessible from the public access terminals in the law library, or remotely to OSBA members.
PreCYdent and AltLaw are free Internet databases that provide citators, but not as sophisticated an Shepard's. When you pull up a case in AltLaw, cases citing that case appear to the side. There are no Shepard's signals , such as overruled, distinguished, followed, etc. When you pull up a case in PreCYdent, there are icons on the righthand side for "Citations" - a list of 1. subsequent cases that cited the case in question and 2. cases which were cited by the case in question, and "Citator" - which includes 1. In-Citator (whether the case in question was reversed or otherwise treated by a higher court) and 2. Out-Citator (if the case in question overrules, reverses or takes other action on a previous case).
