Cleveland-Marshall College of Law

Microform & AudioVisual Services

The Law Library has collections of Microform and Audiovisual resources on the Base Level, in or near the Casual Reading Area.

The Microform Area is just west of the Casual Reading Area, on the other side of the Casual Reading Area glass wall. The Scholar electronic catalog and Microform Title and Location List provide specific cabinet location information for microform materials. The Microform Title and Location List is kept in the Microform Area. You should note that microform materials do not circulate.

Microform reader/printers are available in the Microform Area. Copies made on microform reader/printers cost 10¢ each whether made with a Law Library copy card or dimes. You should note that the machines that accept coins do not give change. [The dollar change machine across from the Information Services desk on the 1st floor dispenses dimes.] One microform reader/printer is also a scanner, allowing you to save microform page images as files. You can then download these files to an external drive or email them.

The microform collection is extensive, with particularly impressive legislative and judicial collections. It includes complete United States Supreme Court Records and Briefs, Congressional Record v.1, 43rd Cong, 1873/74 - v.122, 94th Cong, 1976 & Congressional Record v.123, 95th Cong, 1977- , Federal Register v.1(1936) - v.58 p.35356 (1993) & Federal Register v.58 p.35357, 1993- , and Code of Federal Regulations 1939-1976 & Code of Federal Regulations 1977-, as well as CIS legislative history documents, the US Serial Set, state session laws, Bills of the Ohio General Assembly (68th GA, 1888 - , Analyses [of Bills of the Ohio General Assembly] 104th GA, 1961- , selected state court reports, Ohio appellate decisions on fiche (1981-1992), U.S. government documents, legal newspapers, and selected Law Library Microform Consortium publications.

Most audiovisual materials are shelved in the Casual Reading Area. Some audiovisual materials are also on Reserve (1st floor). Scholar and the Keyword and Subject Searchable Audio-Visual Collection Catalog provide location information and call numbers for audiovisual materials. Most audiovisual materials circulate for one week.

Headphones as well as audiocassette players may be "checked out" from the Information Services Desk for use in the Law Library. VHS 1/2" videocassette and DVD players are available in the small AV Viewing Room (LL123; 1st floor). U-Matic 3/4" videocassette players are available upon request.

Audiovisual materials include a wide assortment of American Law Institute/American Bar Association CLE seminars, trial advocacy titles, documentaries, and law-related popular titles.
