Cite Checking Article Copy & Preview Services
Copy of articles to be part of a journal's cite checking process/event should be provided to the Law Library to help students with their cite checking assignments, as well as initiate our Cite Checking Preview (CCP) service.
By having a full copy of an article available, students doing cite checking assignments are able to refer to sections of that article that may not have been given to them, thereby providing potential clues for their assignments. Electronic copy of cite checking process/event articles should be sent to jessica.mathewson@law.csuohio.edu. Electronic copy of these articles is then put on a Journal's course reserve Web page, and hard copy is retained at the Information Services desk.
The Law Library's CCP service streamlines the cite checking process by identifying items for which it may be difficult to obtain hard copy, allowing student cite checkers to concentrate on the form and substance of citations. Our CCP service identifies CSU campus resources for items, suggests online alternatives to print resources, helps to identify sources that may have to be gathered by interlibrary loan or be difficult to obtain without the author's help, as well as recommends visits to other libraries for selected resources. At least three weeks prior to the start of a student cite checking process/event, journal editors should send electronic copy of articles for the CCP service to research.services@law.csuohio.edu. A research service Librarian will then contact the submitting journal editor to acknowledge receipt of the article and set a CCP service completion date.
Reserve Shelves
The Information Services department provides Cleveland-Marshall College of Law journals shelf space for materials obtained from the Law Library, University Library, OhioLINK, and Interlibrary Loan. These shelves help keep materials for cite checking centrally located, so all editors and staff members have easy access to needed resources.
Journal shelves are located in the Reserve area behind the Information Services Desk. Journal members are welcome to come back and peruse materials on their journal shelf at any time. Materials from the journal shelves can also be checked out to individuals for a brief circulation period.
For more information on journal Reserve shelves, contact Jessica Mathewson (216-687-2450; jessica.mathewson@law.csuohio.edu).
Special Borrowing Privileges
Journal editors, associates, and staff are eligible for special borrowing privileges with the Law Library. These privileges allow one to check out Reserve and other non-circulating items for two days. To help ensure special borrowing privilege status, journal editors should provide lists of their associates and staff by the first week of the semester. Electronic copy of these lists should be sent to Jessica Mathewson, with a cc to Amy Burchfield and Laura Ray (jessica.mathewson@law.csuohio.edu; amy.burchfield@law.csuohio.edu; laura.ray@law.csuohio.edu).
Copy Cards
Journal editors, associates, and staff can use copy cards from the Law Library for photocopying journal sources. Ask for the copy cards at the Information Services desk. If you have questions about copy cards, contact Jessica Mathewson (216-687-2450; jessica.mathewson@law.csuohio.edu).
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
The Law Library participates in interlibrary loan networks which help us to locate and obtain materials for cite checking. When the Library has identified the existence of items through OhioLINK or in local collections, journal students are asked to borrow or use materials directly from those sources. If not available locally or through OhioLINK, the Law Library will attempt to obtain needed materials from the closest or most inexpensive sources. Interlibrary loan borrowing or photocopy fees will not be charged to journal students. ILL requests can take a week or more to fill, so please plan accordingly.
To make an ILL request you may use the online form below or stop by the Information Services Desk.
