The Faculty Current Awareness Bulletin is published periodically by the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library for the faculty and staff of the Law School. The Bulletin contains selected announcements of symposia, conferences, requests for articles and requests for research proposals. Symposia & Conferences
The Connecticut Law Review's symposium Unconscious Discrimination Twenty Years Later: Application and Evolution will take place on November 2, 2007.
The Kansas Law Review's 2007 symposium BioLaw: Law at the Frontiers of Biology will be held November 9, 2007.
Cornell University Law School will host the American Society of Comparative Law 2007 Annual Meeting on November 8 - 10, 2007. The topic is "Comparative Law and Culture." In conjunction with the meeting, there will be a Workshop on Chinese, Japanese and Korean Online Legal Resources held on November 11, 2007.
The Yale Law & Business Society, Yale Environmental Law Association, and Yale School of Management Energy Club will host a conference titled The Future of Energy on November 9, 2007.
Northwestern University School of Law presents the conference The End of the Microsoft Case? on November 15-16, 2008.
The Albany Law Journal of Science & Technology presents its symposium Helping New York Choose: Voting Technology in the 21st Century on November 16, 2007.
Brooklyn Law School will host a symposium on Corporate Liability for Grave Breaches of International Law on November 16, 2007.
The University of Pennsylvania Law Review 2007-2008 Symposium, Fairness to Whom? Perspectives on the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005, will take place on November 30 & December 1, 2007.
The AALS Annual Meeting: Reassessing Our Roles as Scholars and Educators in Light of Change will be held January 2 - 6, 2008 in New York City. The theme of the conference is "Reassessing Our Roles as Scholars and Educators in Light of Change."
The National Center for Remote Sensing, Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law will host the Second International Conference on the State of Remote Sensing Law on January 17-18, 2008.
The Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal will host its 9th Annual Intellectual Property Symposium on February 8, 2008.
The William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law will hold a conference on the Citizen Lawyer on February 8-9, 2008.
The Michigan Journal of Race & Law presents its annual symposium with the theme "From Proposition 209 to Proposal 2: Examining the Effect of Anti-Affirmative Action Voter Initiatives" on February 9, 2008.
The Ohio State Law Journal presents the 2007-08 Symposium: The School Desegregation Cases and the Uncertain Future of Racial Equality on February 21-22, 2008.
Call for Papers, Proposals & Grants
The Journal of Law & Politics at the University of Virginia School of Law has announced a call for papers for its Winter 2008 issue, The Future of Campaign Finance Reform After FEC v. Wisconsin Right to Life. The deadline is November 1, 2007.
The Journal of Accounting Research is extending a call for papers for their May 2008 Journal of Accounting Conference. Scholars from accounting, economics, finance and law are encouraged to submit papers. The submission deadline is November 15, 2007.
The Journal of Policy History and the Institute for Political History are co-hosting a Conference on Policy History in spring 2008. Proposals for all topics concerning the history, development and implementation of public policy, American political development, and comparative historical analysis will be considered. The call for papers deadline is December 3, 2007.
The Law Research Unit of the Athens Institute for Education and Research is soliciting papers for its 5th International Conference on Law, to be held July 17 - 20, 2008 in Athens, Greece. Papers (in English) from all areas of law are welcome. The deadline for paper abstracts is December 12, 2007.
The San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review is devoting its 2008 edition to legal issues relating to global climate change and agriculture, particularly in light of the recent decision of the United States Supreme Court in Massachusetts v. EPA, __ U.S. __, 127 S.Ct. 1438 (2007). The call for papers deadline is December 13, 2007.
The Midwest Black Law Students Association Law Journal has announced its inaugural issue. The journal will publish unique articles that facilitate social awareness of current legal, political, and social issues. It is open to professional and student writers from around the nation. The deadline for paper submission is December 15, 2007.
The Tulsa Law Review is accepting article submissions for its Annual Supreme Court Review Issue that will feature guest editor Erwin Chemerinsky. The call for papers deadline is January 15, 2008.
The Chapman University School of Law invites submission for the Chapman Law Review in connection with its 10th annual symposium to be held in February 2008: "Publicity Rights in Bytes: Contemporary Issues in Entertainment and Sports Law." The deadlines for papers is January 18, 2008.
Stanford and Yale Law Schools announce the ninth session of the Stanford/Yale Junior Faculty Forum to be held at Yale Law School on June 20-21, 2008. The theme for this year is law and the humanities and will cover such topics as administrative, constitutional, criminal, environmental and family law, as well as law and literature, critical legal studies and gender studies. The deadline for submissions is March 21, 2008. Please see Amy Burchfield for more details.
Pacific Legal Foundation's Program for Judicial Awareness will award $10,000 for the best original contribution to legal scholarship by a junior faculty member on the topic of Fifth Amendment and the Takings Clause. Entries must be submitted by May 30, 2008.
The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology at Northwestern University School of Law is ready to accept submissions for its 2008 symposium, Domestic and International Criminal Responses to Human Rights Violations: Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, Torture, and Denial of Habeas Corpus. No deadline date posted.
The Southern New England Roundtable Symposium Law Journal is accepting submissions for the 2008 issue on "Trends and Issues in Intellectual Property" and the 2009 issue on "Trends and Issues in Bankruptcy and the Family." No deadline date posted.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit has added a History of Sixth Circuit page to their website. The page includes an updated version of court history, biographical information on all Circuit and District judges and chronological charts for judgeships.
