Course Media Options
There are many options available to faculty who wish to record and/or supplement classroom presentations and make files available to their students. We provide below a summary of podcasting, screencasting and video recording opportunities. All of the options create files which can be posted on the website, or to a TWEN, LexisNexis, or CSU Blackboard course page with the ability to verify if a student has accessed the file.
- Who can access? We can put files on a webpage with restricted access to Cleveland- Marshall College of Law students and faculty. Files placed on TWEN or LexisNexis Course
pages or blogs or wikis open only the class will be accessable only to members of the specified class. (Caveat: If you restrict a CALI blog to just class
members, there will be no RSS feed)
- Can the files be copied and distributed? CSU's Information Media Services states MediaSite is 99% copy-proof. Camtasia is also very difficult to copy. Protections can be put in place to make copying audio and video more difficult, but someone with know-how can still copy them.

How To Do It
|
Ability to Edit With our current tape-based equipment, editing and processing a video takes a significant amount of time (ie, approximately 3-4 hours per hour of recorded video). New equipment funded through approved technology fees will significantly cut down on processing time, hopefully beginning Spring 2009 semester. |

How To Do It MediaSite can be recorded at an IMS studio or at your CSU site. At IMS, $15/hour. On site, $15 set-up + $15 take-down + $15 /hour. If for a class, first five hours are free.
