Law Library Computer Lab Account

The Computer Lab is on the First Floor of the Law Library. The main lab has 21 workstations, and each of the instructional labs have 15 workstations. The Computer Lab is available whenever the Law Library is open. Lab assistants are scheduled for 15-20 hours per week, and are stationed at the south wall of the main lab. Please no food or drinks in the Computer Lab, even in library-approved containers.

Each College of Law student has a Lab Account, which can be accessed at any Lab workstation, but is not accessible off-site. During First-Year Orientation, students receive their Computer Lab usernames and passwords. To help ensure security, we recommend students change their passwords every six months.

Securing Your Lab Account
Leaving your Lab Account open and unattended in the Computer Lab is an invitation for trouble. Before leaving the Computer Lab, be sure to log out of your Lab Account.

H: Drive - Saving Documents

Each College of Law student has space available on the H: drive of the Law Library server, and each student’s H: drive is visible only to that student. We strongly recommend using the H: drive for saving documents. An additional benefit to saving to the H: drive is that documents are automatically backed up on a weekly basis. You can also save to an external/removable drive such as an USB, but you cannot save to the C: drive or desktop. Since the H: drive is only accessible from the Law Library Computer Lab, if you want to work on documents when away from the Computer Lab, we recommend that you use an external/removable drive or email the documents to yourself.

Lab Printing

Each College of Law student receives an annual "Fall to Fall year" allowance of 800 free pages for printing to the Law Library Computer Lab networked printers. Students can purchase additional pages (using a personal check or money order) at the Law Library Information Services Desk. The cost is $.05 per page (eg, 100 pages cost $5.00), and you purchase pages in $5.00 increments, not to exceed $20.00. In addition to the two networked printers, the Computer Lab has one stand-alone printer where you can use high quality paper for resumes and cover letters.
Note: Computer Lab printing is separate from printing to the LexisNexis and Westlaw printers. College of Law student LexisNexis and Westlaw accounts includes free printing, but students are asked to print no more than 200 pages per day to each of the LexisNexis and Westlaw printers.

E-mail and Webmail

Each College of Law student has an E-mail account. This Law E-mail account is different than the CSU E-mail account, and neither E-mail account includes CSU's Campus Mail Bag (which provides general CSU information). You log into your E-mail account with the same username and password as your Computer Lab account. Students get important information from professors, the College of Law, and the Law Library via E-mail. We recommend that you check your E-mail daily.

Generally speaking, E-Mail addresses at the College of Law have the following format:   firstname.lastname@law.csuohio.edu
You automatically have access to the College of Law E-mail address book.

Forwarding CSU E-mail to College of Law E-mail
College of Law students should forward their CSU E-mail to their Law E-mail to help ensure receiving all university communications, such as Library overdue notices. To do so, login to CampusNet, using your CSU username (ie, CSU ID number) and CSU password. Once logged in, click on "E-mail" under the "Personal" tab, then follow the "Forward" prompts.

Webmail
College of Law students can access their Law E-mail account through Webmail. The system may prompt you regarding the acceptance of a certificate, and you can select the option to permanently accept the certificate to not be bothered with the certificate window again. The system will then ask you to log in. As with regular Law E-mail, use your Computer Lab Account username and password to log into Webmail.

Computer Viruses

Almost all of the computer viruses that you will be exposed to will arrive in the form of files attached to an incoming e-mail. The golden rule is: "Don't open any attachments that you are not expecting to receive, or that are not attached to personalized email explaining what the attachment is, and why it is being sent to you." If you believe that you have discovered a computer virus, please send an e-mail to the Automation department.

Usernames, Passwords, IDs, and PINs

Connect to Law Student Usernames, Passwords, IDs, and PINs for information on the various usernames, passwords, IDs, and PINs you will be issued as a Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Student, as well as the materials and resources you have access to.

CSU CampusNet, Wireless Network, & Home Internet Access

CSU's CampusNet enables students to manage a variety of university information, including adding/dropping classes, viewing/printing schedules, and viewing grades. Log into CampusNet with your CSU username (ie, CSU ID number) and CSU password.

The CSU wireless network is called WoWnet (WithoutWires network), and each CSU student has an account to access it. Consult Information Services and Technoogy's CSU Wireless Network page for complete information on supported products, installation guides, and the zone map. Students can buy a wireless adapter card and setup CD for $115 from the CSU Bookstore. After installing the wireless card, login to your WoWnet account with your CSU username (ie, CSU ID number) and CSU password. If you have any problems with your wireless card, a Lab Assistant in the Law Library Computer Lab can assist you.

[CSU Home Internet Access Web-based info not yet available.]

Law Library CSU Network Ports

You can directly connect to CSU's network at ports marked with a green "live" sticker throughout the Base, Atrium, and Second Levels of the Law Library.
