Services to Cleveland State University Faculty
|
The Law Library is committed to providing excellent support and services to the entire University community. You are welcome to utilize our collection and many of our services.
The Law Library Collection
The Law Library collection consists of over 500,000 bound and microform volumes including published reports of United States Supreme Court, Federal and state courts, Federal statutes, statutes/codes from many states, Federal and Ohio administrative rules and regulations, periodicals, treatises, and other Anglo-American legal materials. The Law Library provides access to thousands of legal resources in electronic format. Contents of our collection are current and retrospective and include Federal, State, and International legal materials. The Law Library is also a United States federal government documents selective depository.
The Law Library produces the Monthly Acquisitions List of New Materials. The list contains citations to materials that have been recently added to the collection of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library. The list is arranged in subject order and provides timely topical access to new materials added to the Law Library's collection. You may request materials from the list at your computer. You will be notified via email when the materials are available for pick up at the Law Library public services desk. You may have your research assistant or department administrative assistant pick up your materials if we have a permission form on file for them.
Library material, with the exception of microform materials, may be checked out by faculty for the following loan periods:
Circulating items: 15 weeks
Reserve and reference items: 7 days
Non-circulating items: 7 days
Audiovisual items: 7 days
Library items should be returned to the Law Library Information Services Desk or a request for renewal should be received by the Access Services (Circulation) department by the due date. You can also renew items yourself using the self-renewal feature on SCHOLAR. [From the initial SCHOLAR screen, click on the My Account tab. If you don't have a PIN, you can create one.] Items not returned by the due date are considered overdue and a notice will be sent to the faculty member requesting the return of the item. Renewals of items are made when requested and are renewed for the above loan periods. All materials are subject to being recalled by the library if requested by another patron. Items that are recalled by other patrons must be returned to the Law Library within 2 days or they will be considered overdue. If requested, the recalled items will be returned to the faculty member as soon as they are available from the patron. Lending policies for the University Library in Rhodes Tower may vary from the Law Library's policies. For more information or questions, contact Amy Burchfield at (216) 687-6885.
Photocopy Services
The Law Library offers several photocopying options. We have self-service coin-operated copy machines on all floors of the library. Copies are ten cents each, whether with cash or by using a Law Library copy card, which may be purchased with a dollar bill at the dispenser unit across from the Law Library Information Services Desk. The copycard comes encoded with twenty cents; thus the initial cost of the card is $.80. This card can also be used for prints from microforms.. VikingCards do not work in the equipment.
Printouts from the Legal Research Workstations across from the Information Services Desk are 10 cents per sheet. Nickels, dimes, quarters, $1 and $5 bills can be used.
If permission is granted by the chair of your department, a copy card with a predetermined value may be purchased for your use or your research assistant’s use. You may also take advantage of the Law Library’s copying service. To do so, it is necessary for each individual to provide us with an account number in writing from his or her department. For more information or questions, contact Amy Burchfield at (216) 687-6885.
