This course will establish a working understanding of basic corporate structure, as well as alternative business forms, such as general partnerships, limited partnerships, LLCs and joint ventures. Students will understand the roles and responsibilities of key management groups within the corporation including the board of directors, committees of the board, C-suite executives, internal audit, human resources and risk management; have a basic understanding of corporate accounting concepts including the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows; have a basic understanding of corporate finance, including common stock, preferred stock, and bonds, including a basic (non-technical) understanding of valuation techniques; understand the role of shareholders and the rights of share ownership.
