Location:  Ben Venue Laboratories, Inc. Legal Department, 300 Northfield Rd., Bedford, OH 44146

Credits Hours:  3 or 5 Credit Hours for Summer Term                                             

Prerequisites:  RCC; completion of at least 29 credit hours; minimum GPA 2.50;  top 50% of class; undergraduate/graduate degree in Pharmacy, chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or similar scientific background; submission of resume, cover letter, undergrad/grad transcripts, background investigation and drug screen and approval of site supervisor .

Ben Venue Laboratories (BVL) is a subsidiary of Boehringer Ingelheim (BI, an international pharmaceutical company headquartered in Germany that is dedicated to researching, developing, manufacturing and marketing novel products in high therapeutic value for humans and veterinary medicine.

The Ben Venue Legal Department is seeking a qualified Extern to work part-time.  Although the successful applicant will work primarily on intellectual property and FDA regulatory matters, there is an opportunity for experience in a wide variety of areas such as commercial contracts, labor and employment, compliance, corporate governance and real estate.  The successful applicant will be expected to work with all members of the Legal Department, and will report to the Senior Intellectual Property Counsel.   

Senior IP Counsel is responsible for providing IP and regulatory support for both injectable and oral generic pharmaceutical products.  Preference will be given to a student with scientific experience and a demonstrated interest in intellectual property.

Students may register for summer term for 3 credits (24 hours per week) or 5 credits (40 hours per week).  Students in this externship also participate in an Externship Seminar conducted at the law school by the externship faculty supervisor. Graded Pass/Fail.

The supervising attorney at Ben Venue will make final selection of students.
