Credits Hours:  3 or 5 Credit Hours for Summer Term

Prerequisites:  RCC, minimum GPA 3.0, must be a second-year law student; background investigation by agency; approval by site supervisor.

This externship will be a 12 month interview for a post-graduate position.  The position— both as an extern and post-graduate—will work in all areas of the Legal Department on a variety of matters including litigation, leasing and transactional matters.

Essential Job Functions:                                                          The responsibilities  are divided into four groups within the Legal Department:  Leasing; Corporate; Risk Management; and Litigation.  You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects (i.e. research regarding different lease provisions at a shopping center, defaulting tenants, due diligence on transactional matters and discovery issues).  The position offers a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the company in general, and how each group within the Legal Department interacts with the remainder of the company.  The position will report to the Assistant General Counsel of Litigation and Operations.

Students may register for  5 credits (40 hours per week) in the summer term. Students in this externship also participate in an Externship Seminar conducted at the law school by the externship faculty supervisor. Graded Pass/Fail.
