Dan McMullen is a Partner with the law firm of Calfee, Halter & Griswold, in its Cleveland office, where he practices intellectual property law, leads the firm’s Information Technology Practice and focuses on computer software and Internet application development and licensing, cloud hosting and SaaS subscriptions, data rights and privacy, cybersecurity, Web 3 and other IT-related transactions and dispute resolution.
Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. McMullen designed management information systems for General Motors. He taught intellectual property and cyberlaw classes for many years at Cleveland Marshall College of Law and Case Western Reserve University Law School, currently authors a treatise on the law of electronic commerce for legal publisher LEXIS-NEXIS and serves on the U.S. District Court’s ADR Panel of Neutrals, mediating IP and IT disputes. Mr. McMullen earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Mr. McMullen currently serves on the boards of GCPTech (formerly the Northeast Ohio Software Association) and the Ohio Conservation Federation, is a member of the North Coast Angel Fund, serves on the Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Government Affairs Council, and is past board chair of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission and an alumnus of Leadership Cleveland.
