“ ‘Thank you’ is the best prayer that anyone could say….Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, and understanding.” – Alice Walker
Last Wednesday was Giving Day at Cleveland State University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and I’m very pleased to report that Cleveland-Marshall raised the most dollars and had the most donors than any other CSU College by a large margin. We raised $23,822 from 130 donors in just one day!
My thanks to each of you who made a donation, and special thanks to these four alumni who matched gifts up to $1,000 during one or more hours on Giving Day: Georgia A. Froelich ’84, Michael J. Haas '94, Steven W. Percy '79, and Thomas O. Gorman '73.
I also want to thank all of you who have contributed to our law school in the past year.
For a number of our students, a scholarship makes the difference between getting a legal education or sacrificing their dream. Without the scholarship support we received from so many alumni and friends last year, we would not have been able to enroll the largest first year class in four years.
Now, we must do it again this year, and it won’t be easy in this extraordinarily competitive law school environment. But we do have a distinct advantage……we are rising.
We are a law school on the rise. The teaching, scholarship, and service of our faculty has never been more impressive. The work of our staff has never been more tireless. The quality of our students has never been higher and their efforts never more inspiring. The support of our alumni and friends has never been stronger.
Our 2018 highest-in-Ohio bar passage rate and 4th-largest-in-the nation U.S. News national ranking increase are among the successful results on our metrics that further demonstrate our success.
Please invest in the next generation of lawyer-leaders by making a tax deductible gift to Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. No contribution is too small.

It would mean a lot to us.
Have a great week.
