Frequently Asked Questions about the eDiscovery Certificate

  • When does the program start?

    The program is asynchronous and self-paced. Students will have __ weeks from enrollment to complete the program requirements.

  • How much time will I need to spend on coursework?

    Students should expect to spend __hours per module, including listening to lectures, reading materials, and completing the asessments.

  • Will I need to be online at a specific time?

  • No. Students can listen to lectures and complete the assessments according to their own schedule.

  • Do I need to have experience with online classes to do this program?

    No. There will be tutorials and support available to help you.

  • How are the courses graded?

    Each module contains a mastery assessment. You are required to obtain at least an 80% score on each assessment to obtain the Certificate.

  • What do I earn for completing the program?

    Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a Certificate in eDiscovery signed by the Dean of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and ___Continuing Educaiton Units (CEU's) {CLE?}

  • Why should I consider a certificate program instead of getting a degree?

    This certificate program delivers high-quality, rigorous academic content with fewer course requirements than a traditional degree program. The curriculum is specifically focused on providing the practical knowledge and skills necessary to work directly in this rapidly growing field. Completing the certificate takes significantly less time than a degree and at a substantially reduced cost.

  • Is this program only for lawyers?

    No. The program is for both lawyers and non-lawyers. The courses are designed to be appropriately challenging and educational for participants with or without a law degree.

  • What are the requirements for admission?

    Participants in the program must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited US college or university, or the equivalent degree from a foreign academic institution.

  • What does the program cost?

  • My employer wants to sponsor my participation in the program. How can I arrange this?

    The Registration Form asks for a Billing Contact, if someone other than the participant is paying the program tuition. Please contact _____ with any additional billing questions.

  • Is financial aid available?

    No. Participants in this program are not eligible for federal student loans or financial aid.

  • When is tuition due?

    Tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of the program.

  • How do I know if I have the right computer and equipment for the program?

    You don’t need any special equipment for this program – just a computer and internet access. For specific recommendations, you can take a look at Technical Requirements.

  • What is a certificate?

    The certificate is a credential that shows that participants completed the coursework required of the program. It is not a degree, and cannot be used for credit toward a J.D. degree or any other degree.
