Erin McBride ’12 is proud to call the city of Cleveland her hometown. She enjoys the scenic views of the Cleveland Metroparks and Lake Erie, while being in a city with the perks of an urban setting, such as world-class professional sports and vibrant dining options. McBride wanted to practice law in the city, and found there was no better law school to help her reach that dream than Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
“I think Cleveland is a close-knit community where people offer each other a lot of support,” said McBride, citing her favorite Cleveland spot – the West Side Market – as an example of a local gem fueled by community support.
Staying in Cleveland’s strong legal market, McBride accepted a position with Ulmer & Berne LLP as an associate. In her position, she represents public and private companies on a variety of corporate law matters, including mergers & acquisitions, real estate purchasing and securities law.
McBride prepared for a career in transactional law by attending Wittenberg University, where she studied communication and business. Transactional law appealed to her because she enjoys working in team-based environments and striving towards a common goal.
“My favorite part about being a business attorney is thinking like a business leader, not just an attorney,” explained McBride. “I love the challenge of putting myself in the client’s position, and working to achieve their business goals.”
