Cleveland-Marshall College of Law will host a Criminal Justice Forum, "White Collar Shortcuts" Tuesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. The lecture will be delivered by Ellen S. Podgor, the Gary R. Trombley Family White-Collar Crime Research Professor and Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law.

Synopsis:

In the aftermath of financial and corporate frauds, the government has been touting that they will crackdown on white collar crime. Behind this aggressive rhetoric, however, is a reality of the government using shortcuts in both agency policy and prosecutorial practices. Building statistics that may play well with the press will not correct misconduct in the boardroom, corruption in government offices, and computer crimes that plague the Internet.
