Hire CSU|LAW

Year-Round Job Posting
On-Campus and Virtual Interview Programs

“The Cleveland State College of Law is the first school I look to when hiring lawyers and law clerks. Our law firm has thrived over the years because of the high caliber of lawyers that have been trained by our school. The candidates that are steadily presented to us for hiring consideration are driven, diverse and exceptional. As an employer, I count myself fortunate to be affiliated with The Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.”
-Ian Friedman, CSU|LAW ’97, Founding Partner, Friedman & Nemecek

The Office of Student and Career Services offers several ways to recruit our talented students and alumni. Information about our most popular recruiting services - job postings and on-campus recruiting - is listed on this page.

If you require additional assistance or would like to discuss your recruiting needs to determine the best way to proceed, please contact us at careernull@law.csuohio.nulleduAll of our services are offered at no cost to our employers.

If you are a smaller practice and have not hired in a while or perhaps are preparing to make your first attorney hire, we are happy to share some tips and consideration with you in this resource, created by NALP and co-sponsored by the ABA Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division.

It is expected that all organizations that utilize our services and programs to recruit students and graduates will understand and adhere to the NALP Principles for a Fair and Ethical Recruiting Process and the Cleveland State University Non-Discrimination Policy. Please direct any questions or concerns to Sarah Beznoska, Assistant Dean for Student and Career Services at 216-687-2260.

WHY HIRE CSU|LAW?

PRACTICE-READY AND PREPARED

Our graduates come to us with significant employment and life experiences, and while with us develop the legal knowledge and practical skills required to successfully contribute immediately upon graduation to any dynamic workplace. We produce graduates with strong legal writing skills, the ability to thoroughly navigate complicated legal issues, and the confidence to apply innovative thinking to solve problems.

LEADERSHIP AND DIVERSITY

Our graduates leverage on and off campus opportunities to develop core leadership skills, including communication, cultural competency, active listening, project management, teamwork, and technology.

PROFESSIONAL COMMITMENT AND ETHICS

Our graduates know the value of hard work, integrity, and accountability. We challenge them as they learn law in the classroom so they are prepared to live justice as lawyer leaders, in whatever field they choose.

Job Postings:

We accept job postings year-round. Jobs are advertised to our students and alumni through a password-protected jobs board called CareerConnect. Employers may create their own account in CareerConnect, which allows for the direct posting and management of available opportunities. Alternatively, opportunities can be submitted using our online job posting form.

Fall or Spring Recruitment Programs:

We welcome employers to conduct interviews with students through our on-campus interview programs in the Fall and Spring semesters. We also offer Resume Collect services as part of these programs.

The Fall Recruitment Program takes place between August and October of each year, and is an opportunity for employers to recruit students for school-year employment or employment for the following summer. It is also an opportunity to recruit students in their final year for entry-level employment after graduation.

The Spring Recruitment Program takes place between January and March of each year, and is an opportunity for employers to recruit students for opportunities beginning in the coming summer, and often continuing into the following school year. It is also an opportunity to recruit graduating students for entry-level employment.

Employers may register for either program by completing the online registration form.

New Graduate Recruitment Program:

Let us connect you to your next hire! CSU|LAW partners with CWRU Law and the Akron Law each year to host the Recent Graduate and 3L Legal Career Fair. This program is held at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Conference Center and gives you the opportunity to interview our qualified and enthusiastic recent graduates for employment as an attorney or other professional.

In this program, we will collect resumes of interested candidates and you will select the candidates you'd like to interview. We take care of everything else! On-campus interviews provide you with an efficient and cost-effective way to interview multiple qualified candidates in one day. Resume Collections are also available if you are unable to interview on campus but would like to receive resumes from recent graduates. There is no fee to participate in this program.

The 2022 Recent Graduate and 3L Legal Career Fair date has not yet been announced. Watch the Legal Career Fair's webpage for date and registration details as they become available.

“I managed Sherwin-Williams’ law clerk program for several years and could always count on C|M|LAW to send great candidates my way. Each of our Cleveland-Marshall law clerks has been enthusiastic and engaged, with an excellent work ethic and willingness to tackle any and all projects in a practical and thoughtful manner. We’re looking forward to welcoming our two new Cleveland-Marshall law clerks in June.”

-Kelly Albin, CSU|LAW ‘12, The Sherwin Williams Company, Corporate Counsel

“The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office has a long history of hiring approximately 10-15 law clerks from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law every fall, spring, and summer. Attorneys in the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office are consistently impressed with the ability, motivation, knowledge, and maturity of law students from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Law students from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law are a great asset in support of the work of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.”

-Jim Moss, CSU|LAW '93, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
