Legal Drafting: Special Topics
LAW 798 Section 501
Carolyn Broering-Jacobs
Welcome to Drafting for the Basic Business Deal. You will take this online course using Blackboard, which is CSU’s eLearning platform. To familiarize you with the Blackboard learning environment and with some of the tools that I’ll ask you to use, I would like each of you to take the Student Orientation Course in Blackboard Learn by the beginning of next week. You can find that Blackboard training at the following link:
http://mycsu.csuohio.edu/elearning/students/stutraining.html
You have two options for the training, both of which are explained at the link listed above. You may choose either training option; I just want you to be familiar with Blackboard before the course begins.
This course will begin on Tuesday, May 27. On Tuesday morning, I will post the first week’s learning module. In that learning module, you will find a list of tasks for the week, which will include reading, listening to one or more short recorded lectures, taking online quizzes, completing short drafting assignments for feedback, and participating in an online forum. I will give you due dates for each component. I will post a new learning module each week.
If you haven’t used Blackboard before, you can find the login for Blackboard on the University’s website, and you can also find it by clicking this link:
https://bblearn.csuohio.edu/MACAuth/login.jsp
You will need your university id number and password to log on. Once you log onto Blackboard, you’ll need to choose my course. If you log onto the course now, you’ll see very little content. I will be uploading the first week’s content later this week, and then I will add new content as we proceed through the course.
Your text for the course is the second edition of Drafting Contracts: How and Why Lawyers Do What They Do, by Tina Stark. Read and study chapters 1-5 for week one.
