Assignment details

Required Texts:

TAXATION OF INDIVIDUAL INCOME (Eleventh Edition), Martin Burke and Michael K. Friel

Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and Code of Regulations

Teaching Method:

This course will be taught using the problem method. As a result, the assignments will consist of problems designed to deal with the particular subject matter being discussed. Each problem, along with specific references to Code Sections, Regulations, Revenue Rulings and Court Cases, is set forth at the beginning of each Chapter. These selected readings explain the subject matter being dealt with in the problem. I expect you to read the Chapter, the Code Sections referenced, along with the appropriate Regulations, and complete the problems before class and we will review the problems during class.

First Class:

Read Chapter 1 and complete the Problems.
