First Assignment Spring 2016

Employment Law

LAW 684 Section 01

Candice S. Hoke

Assignment details

Hello Employment Law students,

As reviewed in my email of Dec. 29th to all students enrolled in this class, and with a couple updates--
In advance of the first day of class, please:

1. Read the Chris Spencer handout re types of employment issues (will come to all enrolled students by email the weekend before our first class-- it's 4 pages).

2. Start reading the printed news-- newspapers and magazines-- as well as the web to ID different types of employment issues that are arising today. Please bring a few that you find interesting to class on our first day.

3. Purchase or rent the casebook: Wilborn, Schwab Employment Law (5th edition 2012). Various formats are available, including 3-ring and hardcover. We will start using it on the 2nd day's class so please have read pp. 3-11. (The following week the MLK holiday occurs on Monday, 1/18, but we will resume class on Wed. 1/20. We will be covering pp. 13-44 over weeks 2 - 3, in case you like to read ahead.

Looking forward to seeing you for the fascinating and critically important field of Employment Law! --Prof. Hoke
