First Assignment Fall 2017

Space Law

LAW 787 Section 1

Mark J. Sundahl

Assignment details

Welcome to SPACE LAW!

I hope that you will find the subject as interesting as I do. We'll explore a myriad of topics. One of them is bound to grab your particular interest. That should be the area of your paper topic. I know it's hard to pick a paper topic before you learn anything about the area of law. To help with this, we will be meeting both Monday and Wednesday for the first two weeks so that I can give you an overview of -- or "crash course" in --the space industry and legal issues. Then you will be able to select your paper topics and the class will meet only on Mondays so that you have time to research and write.

I will be sending you the course website link by the end of the week. All materials will be available there.

In advance of our first meeting, I would like you to spend some time on Google (or at SPACE.C0M or SPACENEWS) browsing articles on space activities, space law, space companies, government agencies, foreign space agencies, the history of space use, etc. I'd like each of you to bring two or three facts, ideas, issues, etc. that were of interest to you.

See you all next Monday! Ad astra!
