Criminal Procedure I
LAW 621 Section 51
Jonathan P. Witmer-Rich
The first assignment for the course is located on the course TWEN page. Please log in to TWEN, join the class, and click on "Course Materials" on the left side of the screen.
For the first day of class, you need to read two items, both of which are posted on the TWEN site:
1. "Guide to Carpenter opinions," written by me. Read this first, before you read the Carpenter case.
2. Carpenter v. United States, No. 16-402, 585 U.S. __ (June 22, 2018) (all opinions).
The Carpenter case is very long, 119 pages (!!), and I realize that this is an extremely long first assignment. But we will talk about the case for the first seven classes, and some of the later reading assignments will be lighter as a consequence of doing all of this reading ahead of time. So look at it as an investment which will pay off with less reading later.
Email me if you have any questions and look forward to seeing you in class!
