First Assignment Fall 2019

Legal Methods, Strat & Tactics

LAW 520 Section 61

Mary Jane McGinty & Nicholas DeSantis

Assignment details

Dear “Associates,”

You are enrolled in Legal Methods: Strategies and Tactics for the Fall 2019 semester.

We are planning a training program to give you the tools to better handle the remainder of your law school career and, ultimately, the bar exam and your chosen practice setting. To make it the best possible program that serves your needs and the school’s, we want your input about this program.

We will be employing a law firm model, in which you will be new hires (“associates”) and the professors will be senior partners. As part of the law firm model, Legal Methods: Strategies and Tactics will be conducted as a “new associate training program” within that context.

We want to build a program that takes into consideration not only the partners’ input, but yours as well. With that mind, please provide us your thoughts about the following:

  • What are your perceived strengths?
  • What are your perceived weaknesses?
  • What skills do you want us to teach?
  • What are your short-term goals?
  • What are your long-term goals?
  • How can the firm help you in achieving those goals?
  • What are you most looking forward to in the program?
  • What are you least looking forward to in the program?
  • Do you have any other thoughts about the program?

Please email me your responses in a Word document attached to an email by Friday 8/23/19 and we will organize them and follow up with you if I have any questions. We cannot guarantee that all your recommendations will be implemented. We will consider everyone’s thoughts and input and weave into the program what best serves the firm and its clients based on the time and resources we are willing to commit to this worthy endeavor.

We look forward to your responses and working with you on this.

Sincerely, Mary Jane McGinty Senior Partner m.mcgintynull@csuohio.nulledu

Please look for an email from Barbri with your Matrix user name and password on Wednesday of this week. Make sure to check your clutter and junk files in case you do not see it. Thanks!
