Welcome to Legal Writing for Fall of 2019. We will be holding two classes during Orientation Week, and below are the books I would like for you to acquire as well as the material I would like for you to review prior to our first class. The first required book is the The Bluebook, 20th Edition, our Citation Manual. The Bluebook should be available in the campus bookstore.

The second book I would like for you to acquire is Legal Writing with Style, by myself and my colleague, Terri LeClercq. It is only available through Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Legal-Writing-Style-Terri-LeClercq/dp/0692578153. There are previous versions of the book, but the required version is the red version.

The third book I would like for you to acquire is Sources of American Law, 3d edition, available at this link: https://www.cali.org/books/sources-american-law-introduction-legal-research. This is a free book made available through an organization called CALI about which you will receive more information during orientation. You should be able to download the book without registration on the site. If you run into problems, let me know.

Please reade the following pages in Sources of American Law: pp. 1-14, 24-42, 55-65 (no need to complete any exercises).
