First Assignment Fall 2020

Family Law

LAW 618 Section 1

April L. Cherry

Assignment details

Hello All. Welcome to Family Law! This course will be taught asychronously on Blackboard. I hope that this method of instruction will allow you to work efficiently in these difficult times.

I will post all of the material for the coming week by Sunday morning.

Required Text: Weisberg & Appleton, Modern Family Law: Cases and Materials (6th Ed.) (2016). (Note that we are using an older edition of the text - not the 7th edition published in 2020, so you should be able to find a used book at a reasonable price)

Reading for Week 1:

  1. Evolution of the Right to Privacy (Griswold v. Connecticut, Eisenstadt v. Baird, Meyer v. Nebraska, Pierce v. Society of Sisters), pp. 1-22.
  2. Growth of Privacy (Roe v. Wade), Burdens on Privacy (Whole Women’s Health – available on Blackboard), pp. 22-41.
