Criminal Procedure I
LAW 621 Section 1
Jonathan P. Witmer-Rich
The assignment for the first week of class is as follows:
First, log into the Crim Pro I Blackboard page. The course Syllabus is posted there. In addition, there are two modules available under "Course Content." Each module contains brief pre-recorded lectures; please view those before each class.
In addition, there is a reading assignment for each day (as reflected in the Syllabus).
For the first day of class (8.23), please read chapters 1-4. You may skim pages 8-17. Four chapters sounds like a lot but much of this is brief and introductory. Also view the brief video on Blackboard.
For the second day of class (8.25), there is no assigned reading from the casebook, but please read and view the materials on the Blackboard site.
Our casebook is:
Simmons and Hutchins, Learning Criminal Procedure (West 2019 2d edition) (hardback)
OR
Simmons and Hutchins, Learning Criminal Procedure: Investigations (West 2019 2d edition) (paperback)
You only need to buy one of those, they are two versions of the same thing. See the syllabus or ask me if you have any questions about the casebook.
