Justice
LAW 559 Section 1
David F. Forte
Welcome to this great seminar and to some great discussions to follow.
Assignment 1
Like Aristotle, we shall begin our inquiry about justice by reviewing human experience. Each of us, in more than one moment of our lives, have personally experienced:
1) Committing an act of injustice
2) Being the object of an act of injustice
3) Committing an act of justice
4) Being the object of an act of justice
Write a reflection about one of those events. Note that this is not something that you observe socially, but something in which you personally were the focus. Send me your reflection by email before the first class begins. In our first class, I shall ask if anyone wishes to share that event and his or her reflection upon it.
We shall also begin discussing our readings. Is Antigone a hero or a fool? Is Creon a villain? Why?
