Property

LAW 514 Section 1

April L. Cherry

Assignment details

Hello All,

I look forward to meeting you all next week. We have a big class (there are 58 of us – 57 students and me). I hope that we will be able to create an environment that is kind and conducive to learning and collegiality.

Here is some key information for the first week of class:

Our texts:

  • Dukeminier, Krier, et al., Property: Concise Edition (3rd ed. 2021) (page numbers refer to casebook unless otherwise specified)
  • Brophy, Lopez, & Murphy, Integrating Spaces (2011) (hereinafter “I.S.”)
  •
  • Reading Assignment for the first week of class:
  • First in Time: Acquisition of Property by Discovery

Johnson v. McIntosh p. 3-14

Notes and Questions (on Johnson) I.S. p. 22-26

First Possession and Ownership I.S. p. 187-193

I know that books are expensive and I hope that you have been able to get used books or rentals. I also know that students often need to wait for financial aid distributions before they can purchase books. Accordingly, I will try to put a copy of the first week’s materials on Blackboard in the first module folder this weekend.
