First Assignment Spring 2022

Property

LAW 514 Section 62

Matthew Ahn

Assignment details

PROPERTY (LAW 514/62)

The required text for this course is Sprankling and Coletta’s Property: A Contemporary Approach (5th Edition, 2021). Because casebooks are expensive, if you are able to purchase a used 4th edition, that is perfectly acceptable, as the 4th edition will still contain all the cases we plan to cover (although the page numbers will not match up to the syllabus).

For the first class, please read:

-“Why Recognize Property? Five Theories of Property” (SC 5e pp. 1–7)

-Pierson v. Post and accompanying notes (pp. 8–14)

-“What Is Property?” (pp. 24–27)

-Johnson v. M’Intosh and accompanying notes (pp. 27–34)
