First Assignment Fall 2023

Contracts

LAW 511 Section 1

Matthew Green

Assignment details

Greetings Class.

There is one required text for our class.  It is Knapp, Crystal, Prince, Problems in Contracts Law, Cases and Materials (Wolters Kluwer 9th edition).

Students also may purchase a supplement to the text.  The title of the supplement is Rules of Contract Law, also by Knapp, Crystal and Prince.  The supplement sets forth relevant portions of the Restatement (Second) of Contracts and the Uniform Commercial Code.  We will study that authority throughout the semester. The supplement is helpful, but it is not required for the course. If you choose to purchase a supplement, I advise that you do not purchase the most recent edition.  For instance, the 2015-2016 Rules of Contract Law Supplement would serve our purpose for the class.  More recent versions of the supplement contain information that we will not cover in a first-year contracts course, and as a result of the additional information they contain, these recent editions have become pricey.

For our first class, please read pages 1-18 and 35-46 in the Problems in Contract Law text.  I will upload a syllabus for the course to Blackboard, which you will be able to access shortly before our first class begins.

I look forward to getting to know you during the semester as we embark on the very interesting material we will cover in Contracts.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions in the meantime.

Regards,

Professor Green
