Erica Kravchenko

Legal Writing Professor

Primary Information

Bio

Erica Kravchenko joins Cleveland State University College of Law after fifteen years of practicing law, mainly in the areas of bankruptcy law and business litigation. During this time, Professor Kravchenko worked as an associate attorney at several law firms, including, most recently, Bernstein-Burkley, P.C., of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she specialized in business bankruptcy. Throughout her career, Professor Kravchenko also served as a career clerk for several federal bankruptcy judges in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern District of Ohio.

Professor Kravchenko obtained her juris doctor from the University of Akron in 2008. As a law student, Professor Kravchenko served as a teaching assistant to several law professors and tutored torts. She also was a judicial extern for the late Hon. Randolph Baxter and participated in the 3Rs program in both the Cleveland and Akron city schools.

As a self-described life-long learner, Professor Kravchenko loves to try new things. This love of adventure led her to take up ballroom dancing. Soon, Professor Kravchenko began teaching ballroom dance and competing on the professional level, while simultaneously practicing law. This fortuitous turn in her career served as an important catalyst that launched her desire to combine her love of teaching with her knowledge and expertise in the law.

In addition to ballroom dancing, Professor Kravchenko loves to read, travel, and meet new people. She is married and is a mom to two wonderful adult sons, two rambunctious dogs, and one grumpy cat.
