Join CSU|LAW for an intimate conversation with author and political historian Heather Cox Richardson in the Moot Court Room about her latest book Democracy Awakening: Notes on the State of America.

Richardson examines a small group of wealthy people who have made war on American ideals. By weaponizing language and promoting false history, they have led the American people into authoritarianism - creating a disaffected population with the promise of recreating an imagined past. Richardson argues that taking our country back starts by remembering the elements of the nation's true history that marginalized Americans have always upheld.

Heather Cox Richardson is a history professor at Boston College and an award-winning author whose subjects range from the Civil War to the European settlement of the North American continent to the history of the Republican Party through the Trump administration. Her daily newsletter, Letters from an American, has over one million subscribers, and Richardson's work has appeared in The Guardian, The Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Chicago Times.
