Cleveland State University College of Law students delivered exceptional performances this past weekend in two prestigious national advocacy competitions, representing the College with distinction, professionalism, and skill.
Two CSU Law teams competed in the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition. The 3L team of Anna Nunes, Anna Egensperger, and Cal Ruebensaal demonstrated outstanding preparation and poise throughout the regional rounds. The 2L team, comprised of Jordan Taylor and Josh Digman, advanced through three rigorous preliminary rounds in a highly competitive field of thirty-two teams, securing one of only sixteen spots in the playoff round.
Jordan Taylor (2L) also earned top individual honors, bringing home the award for Best Oralist; a recognition of exceptional advocacy, clarity, and command of the law before the bench.
At the same time, another CSU Law team competed in the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, one of the nation’s premier bankruptcy advocacy competitions. Representing CSU Law were 3L students Brock Jones and Phillip Wilson, who showcased their advocacy skills on a national stage. Preliminary rounds concluded this morning, and results are pending.
These competitions demand intensive legal research, precise brief writing, and high-level oral argument under pressure. Our students rose to the occasion, reflecting the strength of CSU Law’s advocacy program and the dedication of the faculty and alumni mentors who prepare them for success.
We are incredibly proud of all of our competitors. And to the teams still preparing for upcoming competitions. Let’s finish the year strong.
