First Assignment Spring 2018

Immigration and Nationality Law

LAW 734 Section 1

Heather Prendergast

Assignment details

Students in law 734 Section 1 Immigration and Nationality Law should obtain student memberships to the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Here is a link to the membership application: http://www.aila.org/membership/join/law-student-membership-application.

Law student membership comes with a subscription to AILA Link, which contains all the content from AILA publications.

The main text for the course will be Essentials of Immigration Law, 4th Ed. This is an AILA publication and can be purchased by the students directly from AILA for $69. It is my understanding that this publication is also available on AILA Link, so with a student membership to AILA, they should be able to view an electronic version if they would prefer not to buy the book.

The assignment for the first class is Chapter 1 (pages 1 to 24). I would also like the students to be prepared to discuss why they signed up for the course and what they hope to learn this semester.
