Hello Good People!

Welcome to the fall 2022 semester of Family Law. Below you will find the first week of assignments. We will begin our discussion of family law by diving into constitutional issues. If you have paid any attention to the Supreme Court this summer, you know that the Court has upended or at least complicated substantive due process jurisprudence with its overturning of Roe v. Wade, a decision that will surely reverberate in many ways in family law jurisprudence. I am looking forward to talking with you all about these changes!!!

Our Casebook this semester is the latest edition of Weisberg, Modern Family Law: Cases and Materials (7th Ed. 2020). I know that casebooks are very expensive – this one is almost $300 if purchased new. I’ve waited 2 years to adopt this edition of the book to ensure that students would be able to purchase the book used or rent the book at a lower cost through the bookstore or internet sources. (For example, I’ve checked eBay [$162 for used] and Chegg [$67 to rent]). Please take advantage of these sources and others.
