Health Care Law and Ethics
LAW 602 Section 501
April L. Cherry
Hello Good People!
Welcome to the Fall 2024 Semester of Bioethics, also known as Health Care Law and Ethics!
The Blackboard page should be available to you by Wednesday, August 14th, when the semester officially begins.
In the meantime, I thought that I would send you some information while I am still working on the syllabus.
In addition to the casebook, Griffin & Krause, Practicing Bioethics Law (2nd Ed. 2021), this semester we will be regularly supplementing with a traditional bioethics text by Lewis Vaughn, entitled, Bioethics: Principles, Issues, and Cases. I will place a pdf of this text on our course Blackboard page. Accordingly, there is no need for you to purchase this book.
Although this is a short week, I thought that we would “jump” right in. Below I have attached the reading for the first week of class. There will be a few other tasks for you to complete this week. I will make the information regarding those tasks available on Wednesday. But in the meantime, I have placed the reading assignment for this week below, as I know that many of you prepare for class over the weekend.
The reading for the week of August 14th:
• McCormick, Principles of Bioethics (https://depts.washington.edu/bhdept/ethics-medicine/bioethics-topics/ar…)
• Vaughn, Chapter 2, Bioethics and Moral Theories pp. 34-72. (C:\Users\acher\OneDrive\Desktop\Vaughn - Chapter 2.pdf)
I am looking forward to working with you all this semester.
Cheers!
Prof. Cherry
