First Assignment Spring 2026
The two texts for the course are:
Trial and Clinical Skills in a Nutshell, by Hegland
The Curmudgeon's Guide to Practicing Law, by Herrmann
They should be available in the bookstore, but you should also be able to obtain them elsewhere pretty readily. For our purposes, either the 4th edition or any newer edition of the Hegland book and either the first or second edition of the Curmudgeon book will suffice. I believe both are pretty available used.
The assignment for our first seminar (Wednesday the 14th at 4:15 in Room 65) is:
The Civil Litigation Clinic Manual (sent to you via email)
From the text Trial and Clinical Skills in a Nutshell, by Hegland
Chapter 1, Inner Advocacy
Chapter 2, Solving Problems
From the text The Curmudgeon's Guide to Practicing Law, by Herrmann (ABA Section of Litigation):
Chapter 9, How to Enter Time So That Clients Will Pay for It;
Chapter 10, The Curmudgeon on Couth.
