In Memoriam: Steven H. Steinglass

The Cleveland State University College of Law community mourns the passing of Steven H. Steinglass, Dean Emeritus, distinguished scholar, and beloved teacher.

Steve served the law school with extraordinary dedication for more than four decades as professor, associate dean, interim dean, and dean. A nationally respected scholar and the author of leading works on Section 1983 and the Ohio Constitution, he shaped the study and practice of law in Ohio and beyond.

 

Those who knew him will remember not only his scholarship and leadership, but also his kindness, humility, and steady commitment to CSU Law. He devoted himself fully to advancing the law school’s mission, cultivating partnerships, supporting faculty and students, and helping position the College of Law for long-term success.

The law school he helped lead and strengthen stands as part of his lasting legacy, and his influence will continue to shape our community for years to come.
