CSU Law’s Entertainment & Sports Law Association Builds Momentum Through National Competition and Signature Programming
Cleveland State University College of Law’s Entertainment & Sports Law Association (ESLA) continues to expand opportunities for student engagement through national competition and industry-focused programming.
This past year, ESLA members traveled to Tulane University Law School to compete in two national events: the Baseball Arbitration Competition and the Basketball Negotiation Competition. Students showcased their advocacy, analytical, and negotiation skills while engaging with peers from law schools across the country.
Beyond competition, the experience provided valuable exposure to the sports law field, allowing students to deepen their understanding of industry dynamics while building meaningful connections with peers and professionals.
Back on campus, ESLA hosted its annual symposium, bringing together practitioners from across the sports and entertainment law industries. The event featured keynote speaker Bob Boland and included four panels with attorneys who shared insights into their careers and the evolving landscape of the field. Through engaging discussions and candid perspectives, attendees gained real-world insight while connecting with professionals at the forefront of the industry.
Looking ahead, ESLA leadership is focused on continued growth and expanding opportunities for student involvement. Incoming 2026–27 President Colton Jennings emphasized the organization’s commitment to connecting students with industry professionals and leveraging Cleveland’s unique position as a hub for both professional sports and entertainment.
With a strong foundation and growing momentum, ESLA continues to play a key role in preparing CSU Law students for careers in sports and entertainment law.
