French Family Legacy at Cleveland-Marshall Spans Three Generations
The French family has established a strong legacy during their time in Cleveland that dates back at least five generations. A significant part of their legacy centers around the family’s presence in the legal community and their five graduates of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (and predecessor John Marshall School of Law) spanning three generations and 70 years.
Faculty Story: C|M|LAW Professor and Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Co-Director Brian Ray
Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Professor and Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Co-Director Brian Ray first explored the issues of cybersecurity five years ago – practically a lifetime considering the rapid speed of the digital world. His initial interest was in eDiscovery, and the concerns it created for civil litigation, but he quickly realized that this only scratched the surface of legal challenges developing in the electronic age.
Terry and Robin Gilbert Fellowship Promotes Social Justice
Terry Gilbert ’73 sees law as an instrument of social change where human rights take precedence over property and corporate interests. As a legal and social activist, Gilbert has dedicated his legal career to promoting human and political rights, as well as progressive approaches to criminal justice.
Alumni Story: Judge Angela Greene ’97
Cleveland-Marshall graduates hold judgeships in impressive numbers throughout Northeast Ohio and the entire state. C|M|LAW also has a national presence on the bench, including a sitting judge in a location that would not be expected – the northern-most city in the United States.
American Bar Association President Linda Klein to Deliver 2017 C|M|LAW Commencement Address
Linda Klein, President of the American Bar Association (ABA), will deliver the commencement address at Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law’s graduation ceremony for the class of 2017. The ceremony will take place Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Playhouse Square’s historic Ohio Theatre.
Cleveland State University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Announce Accelerated Bachelor’s/Law Degrees
Cleveland State University students now have the opportunity to complete their undergraduate and law degrees through an accelerated 3+3 program with the University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs will co-sponsor a TedX Salon Friday, March 31 on The Resurgent City. C|M|LAW Professor Jonathan Witmer-Rich and Interim Dean Lee Fisher will be among the Salon's speakers.
