Location:
1801 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44115

Cleveland-Marshall College of Law will host an exhibit, “Celebrating Cities: a Photo Exhibition” by celebrated photographers Jennie Jones and Judy Rawson. There will be an opening reception celebrating the exhibit on Thursday, September 6, at 5:30 p.m. Jones’ work will be shown throughout the law school. “Living in Common: Cities and Countryside,” a collection of photos taken by Rawson that depict the synergy between well-designed cities and the country landscapes in which they sit, will be exhibited in the law school’s Judy and Robert H. Rawson, Jr. Learning Commons.

Judy Rawson, a 2017 inductee in the C|M|LAW Hall of Fame along with her husband, Robert, served the City of Shaker Heights for 21 years, first as a City Council member, then as a two-term mayor. Rawson has focused her photography on cities, both domestically and abroad, to help see the world in fresh and distinctive ways. In 2016, a generous donation from the Rawsons funded the Rawson Learning Commons, a technologically advanced collaborative learning space hosted in the Cleveland-Marshall Law Library. Select photographic works of Judy’s currently adorn the walls in the Learning Commons.

“Cities are vitally important places, bringing together people and memorable urban moments. When well-designed, these places add beauty, coherence and energy to our lives. This exhibit celebrates architectural gems and cherished places in a variety of cities,” said Rawson.

Jennie Jones has been a premier photographer of the City of Cleveland for more than three decades. She has published multiple books, the most recent being Cleveland: Inside Outside: A Personal Photographic Journey (1981 – 2011). In 2010, Jones donated 22,000 images to the Michael Schwartz Library, Special Collections at Cleveland State University representing 30 years of her work.

Visit clevelandinsideoutside.com to learn more about Jennie Jones’ photography.

Photography from Rawson’s exhibit will be available for purchase with proceeds from sales benefitting scholarships for Cleveland-Marshall students. The exhibit will run through the end of 2018.
