Monday Morning Message 2.22.21 Pay it Forward.

“As we talked about, I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. So I have not had anyone who could really help me with my law school decision. Your encouragement and insights came just at the right time. I hope to “pay it forward” some day when I am a lawyer by mentoring a future law student!” – Admitted Student for Fall 2021 First Year Class

“I just wanted to reach out to you to thank you for the book and lovely letter I received in the mail today….with To Kill a Mockingbird being one of my favorites, I know exactly what I will be reading next….I knew that I wanted to become an attorney and help become a voice for those who need it most. I just want to say how excited I am to be a part of the Cleveland Marshall Law family and I wake up each morning, thrilled, that I am a day closer to continuing my education at this beautiful institution.” - Admitted Student for Fall 2021 First Year Class

I’m proud that we have had a 40% increase in the size of our first year class since 2016. We owe that success not only to the very hard work of our great admissions team led by Assistant Dean for Admission Barbara Andelman, but also to the coordinated personal outreach effort by students, faculty, administration, and our dedicated alumni and friends.

Our highest priority is to make each and every admitted student feel welcomed and embraced by the CSU C|M|LAW family.

All of our admitted students are very talented, and most have been admitted to more than one law school. They must make their choice very soon about where to begin the next chapter of their life. The competition among law schools for these talented students is intense.

Last year, many of our admitted students said that the opportunity to communicate with alumni actually made the difference in their decision to enroll at CSU Cleveland-Marshall.

So this morning, I am again asking our alumni and friends to reach out to admitted students to share why CSU Cleveland-Marshall should be their first choice for Fall 2021. Each admitted candidate is assigned to an alumnus/a, who is asked to reach out to the student to welcome them, answer their questions, and provide a personal perspective on the question: “Why C|M|LAW?”

Please consider volunteering. The time commitment is small, but your impact is large. You will be asked to contact some admitted students.

If you would be interested in volunteering or in learning more, please email Jill Kobus Johnson, our Director of Strategic Initiatives, at j.m.johnson76null@csuohio.nulledu by Wednesday, March 3, 2021 to let us know if you can help.

“Thank you very much for this email and your warm voicemail. Thank you, also, for the congratulations. I am thrilled! Your summary of my interests is right on the money, and your career highlights reaffirm my confidence in and excitement about CM. CM continues to make me feel valued.” -Admitted Student

We do not take their enrollment for granted. Sometimes a personal connection is all that a student needs to choose one law school over another.

“I so appreciate that you reached out to me personally. It confirms everything that I have heard from alumni and students about the supportive culture of the law school and its alumni network.” - Admitted Student

Being part of an aspiring lawyer’s journey is paying it forward.

“Thank you for sharing your experiences with me and the impact that your C|M|LAW education has had on your career success. I have a much better understanding of the opportunities that Cleveland-Marshall offers. And I appreciate your offer to be my first C|M|LAW alumni networking contact – I will definitely be staying in touch.” - Admitted Student

You -- our alumni and friends – are CSU Cleveland-Marshall's greatest strength

Please pay it forward.
