Monday Morning Message 3.1.21 Announcing Our 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees

“Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is sort of a splendid torch which I have a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it over to future generations.” ― George Bernard Shaw

“Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the scholarship you all have so kindly decided to offer me…You all have given me the opportunity to fulfill my destiny and for that I am forever grateful ! My son will one day be able to say that his mother was given a chance despite financial hardship, and this blessing can teach him that if you dream big enough, no obstacle will be big enough.” -1L Student

This morning, I am very pleased to announce this year’s 2021 C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Honorees.

Our 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees have carried the torch of our mission and have made it burn brightly. They have used their voices and their knowledge of the law to make real change and to make a real difference.

We deferred last year’s induction to 2021 in the hope that we can celebrate in person this year. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to do that since our 4th Annual C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Celebration honoring our 2021 C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Honorees and our 2021 Leader on the RiseKimberly Kendall Corral '12, will be on Friday, November 5, 2021, 5:30-8pm. If not, the event will be virtual.

Please see the below invitation.

The November 5 Hall of Fame event gives us the opportunity not only to honor our distinguished honorees but also to raise much-needed funds for scholarships for first year students admitted to our Fall 2021 class. The Hall of Fame celebration is the only annual fundraising event sponsored by the law school. It is our single best opportunity to raise funds for much-needed student scholarships.

For a number of our students, a scholarship makes the difference between getting a legal education or sacrificing their dream.

The CSU Cleveland-Marshall Hall of Fame was created in 2017, CSU C|M|LAW’s 120th anniversary year, to honor those exceptional leaders who have contributed to the past, present, and/or future success and reputation of CSU C|M|LAW. The inductees include living and deceased alumni, faculty, deans, staff, and community leaders. Current full-time faculty and staff are not eligible. See Hall of Fame Selection Criteria

We had over 200 worthy nominations for induction, and our Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which consists of a number of past Hall of Fame inductees as well as some staff and faculty, selected our inductees. We are very fortunate that there is no shortage of worthy individuals, and we look forward to inducting many other extraordinary people next year and in future years.

We are a law school on the rise, but our biggest challenge is financial. Tuition is our most reliable revenue source, and in this intensely competitive law school environment, the best way to attract talented law students and increase enrollment is through scholarships.

If you have any questions about the Hall of Fame, please do not hesitate to contact me, Ellen GreveyAssistant Dean for Advancement (e.greveynull@csuohio.nulledu), Amy Miller, Director of Donor/Alumni Relations (a.l.miller86null@csuohio.nulledu), or Ashley PresuttoAssistant Director of Advancement (a.presuttonull@csuohio.nulledu).
